{ Souls }

For those not as familiar with, not too far into the story or who have not seen Filler here is a brief explanation of the different "Souls" that inhabit the Bleach world.

{ Humans }

This one would be self-explanatory but there are Humans that have the ability to see spirits. This sets them apart from most other humans. Most humans with spiritual prescence only have minor abilities. This includes sensing when a spirit is near or even seeing spirits that have passed. Others who develop keen spiritual powers can see spirits and even Hollows.

Quincy
Quincys are humans with enormous spiritual powers. They are trained to form the spiritual power around them into a bow and arrow which they use to obliterate Hollows. Through extensive mass extermination now only two people with Quincy powers remain.

Bount
Bount are experimental human souls that were manufactured by the Seireitei. They devour human souls to maintain eternal youth. They also have powers similar to a Soul Reaper's zanpakutou, but a Bount's power manifests itself in the form of a doll.

{ Spirits }

Spirits are the souls that have departed from the body of a human, usually through death. There are two kinds of souls: plus and menos. Most spirits are plus and are taken by Soul Reapers into Soul Society where they live in Rukongai. When a spirit develops enough spirit power it becomes hungry. These spirits often become Soul Reapers, but a few develop their spiritual power in Rukongai.

Shinigami
Shinigami, or Soul Reapers are departed souls who have gained spiritual powers, whose job it is to usher spirits from the living world to Soul Society. They are also responsible for eliminating and cleansing Hollows. What is unique about the Soul Reaper is the "soul cutter" or zanpakutou. It is a sword that can cut through the spiritual mass that makes up a Soul's body.

Vizard
Vizard are rogue Shinigami who have left Soul Society and have gained illegal Hollows abilities through a process of suppressing and harnessing the power of their inner Hollow called Hollowification. Even with Hollow abilities their Soul Reaper powers remain prominent unlike Arrancar. Vizards do not have partial masks or Hollow holes but do have Hollow masks that they put on when they use their Hollow powers. Vizard carry Zanpakutou like normal Shinigami.

{ Hollows }

Hollows are spirits that have had their chains of fate severed and have been consumed by the feelings they have carried with them into the afterlife. It usually takes months to complete the Hollowification process and once a Hollow becomes complete it usually seeks out the soul that it was attached to and consumes it. Hollows then seek out the most powerful souls they can find and consume them to try and fill the void left by the empty hole where there heart once was.

Menos
When a Hollow's hole becomes too big for human souls to sustain it it begins to devour other Hollows. A Menos is a Hollow that is made up of hundreds of other Hollows. Commonly known as Menos Grande in Soul Society, they are something of a myth. If a Menos with a single Hollow's personality in control is eaten at any point in time their evolution will not be able to progress further.

Gillian
The lowest rank of Menos Grande is Gillian, which are the size of skyscrapers. Only teams of high ranking Soul Reapers are sent to deal with Menos Grande. They rarely leave Hueco Mundo, however, unless coerced.

Adjuchas
Adjuchas are the next stage of Menos' evolution. They are normally human sized compared to the massive Gillian but unlike the larger Menos, Adjuchas are intelligent. Adjuchas usually evolve when one of the hundreds of Hollow personalities dominates the others, thus Adjuchas are rare compared to Gillian. Adjuchas must continue to devour Hollows or they will revert back to Gillian.

Vasto lorde
Vasto lorde is the final stage of a Menos' evolution. Vasto lordes are distinctly human shaped. They are also said to be stronger than the average Gotei 13 Captain.

{ Arrancar }
Still falling under the soul category of Hollow, Arrancar are Hollows that have removed their mask to gain more power. Traces of the Hollow mask are usually left on the Arrancar to indicate it is still a Hollow. They also still have their Hollow hole, although it is often covered and quite smaller than a normal Hollow's. Arrancar also have a zanpakutou, but unlike a Soul Reaper's, an Arrancar's zanpakutou contains their true strength. When it is released the Arrancar changes into its true form, usually more animalistic, and can wield its full power.

Numero
Numero are Arrancar that are numbered from 11-99: the lower the number the older the Numero. Numero wear a specialized white uniform that usually consists of long pants and a long collared jacket. Numero are the strongest of all the Arrancar except for Espada.

Espada
Espada are the elite of the Arrancar and are numbered One through Ten according to power. Espada have their number tattood on their body and have control over the Numero.

Privaron
Privarion are former Espada who have lost their rank. The Privaron are numbered with three digit numbers and reside in Las Noches. Even though they have lost their status as Espada they are still more powerful than Numero.

{ Modified Souls }

Modified Souls or "Mod Souls" are artificial souls created by Soul Society. They were deemed a failed experiment and were ordered to be destroyed, but a few have been known to escape destruction. Urahara Kisuke still knows how to create Mod Souls. Mod Souls usually have abilities beyond normal humans and are implanted into Gigai. When not in Gigai they can be inserted into stuffed animals for "Ease of Travel". In this form they have reduced abilities than what they would have in Gigai form.
