The Idea: Create a DRoP RP site with a laid-back atmosphere that is almost impossible to take seriously.

The Creators and Administrators:
Dana: Dana originally came up with The Idea and pitched it to her partner in crime. Dana acts in the capacity of site owner. Her word is pretty much law. She made our lovely layout, and RPs our current Senior Weyrwoman. She's a little nutty, but we love her in spite of because of it. She has a penchant for doing things to her characters that may or may not scar them for life. Mostly the "may." Oh, and do not give her caffiene, as the world may implode. Also, she'll think up things to do with your characters that may or may not scar them for life. Her soul is owned by Ally.

Ally: Ally was pitched the idea, and joined Dana in running with it. Ally is a GodAdmin. Her word is also pretty much law. She transferred everything from AG2!Oly, to AG1!Oly, back to AG2!Oly, to AR!Oly, back to AG2!Oly (again), to Temporary!IF!Oly, and finally back to AR!Oly, with the decision to make it a paid site (the only way we could fit all of our information on there) She's definitely a little crazy. She strongly encourages wacky hijinks. She is also the mean one.

Manda: Manda joined us, I want to say, around incarnation five. She is also a GodAdmin, though she is frequently less active on the administration side of Olympus. She's full of crazy ideas and usually helps Ally with transferring things from site to site. She enjoys causing mayhem and dismay to her characters, in order to provide amusement to herself and other RPers.

Zeke: Zeke has only recently risen to the ranks of the administrators, after having been voted unanimously to the spot by the other three admins. Zeke is basically made of pure win and awesome, and for the longest time was the only man to grace Oly's hallowed pixels. Now, he provides the brains for the admins, and helps make sure everything on Oly contains some semblance of logic (that's right, I said it, Oly has LOGIC). He's a bit quiet on the whole administrative part, but that's ok, because we still love him.

The Goal: The Goal is to give Pern RPers a place to relax and have fun. To create a place where crazy things that probably wouldn't happen on pretty much any other (sane) Pern site are commonplace. And to make it an involved site, where members are free to suggest just about anything (plot, dragon color, pet type, pet color, etc.)

What We Have to Offer (These may or may not be good things):
-Crazy Admins. (We like to think it's the "good" kind of crazy )
-Easily some of the most dedicated members ever (Many of them having followed us through (at the very least) the move from AG2 to IF to AR.)
-More dragon colors than many places have members
-Usually some sort of clutch/bonding of some sort occurring (Be it dragon or pet)
-Usually some sort of plot either occurring or in the works.
-The option to have someone/thing that would normally be rejected by any other Pern RP.

Warnings:
-We are, obviously, non-Canon.
-Almost nothing is taken too seriously.

Current Events:
-Elohim Ysuith, Queen of the feather-winged Empyrean Dragons, was recently caught by Hitsuji Kiranth, one of the previously extinct Junikyu breed, and her clutch of fifteen is currently hatching. Who knows what will come of this...
-Two clutches of Whers are currently hatching, and we need many more hopefuls! Candidates, Dragonriders, anyone can try for one, and join the night Wing of Olympus
-Weyrling Training for those that Impressed during our experiment of trying smaller but more frequent clutches. It didn't work. So, for those of you trying to catch your breath after making all those candidates, don't worry, you've got time now. And there's plenty of surprises as well...
-A search for little (and big) plots to make things just that much more interesting
-Various silly shenanigans in various RPs

This was written by Ezekiel on the second page of this advert. It's a nice little tidbit about Oly that isn't administrative propaganda! that explains a bit of who we are.

Allow me to say three things:

1. The Rules page (and, evidently, some of the wording/phrasing in this advert) is there to scare you. It is a blatant scare tactic. Believe me, the admins are MUCH nicer than it makes them seem...unless you stubbornly refuse to accept anything but immediate acquiescence to your demands. That sort of thing tends to result in...well, chaos, mayhem, disorder, and/or very unhappy ex-members.
BUT that is not how they are with flexible people! They will work with you if you work with them. As long as whatever you want to do doesn't violate the truly small handful of actual rules, it's probably okay; heck, it may even be welcomed. ^__^

2. This place is LOVELY if you have ideas you want to try out. For example, I've got characters I'd never DREAMED of playing elsewhere simply because this site BEGS for you to make wild and crazy things. I've got a pair of identical twins, one of whom is definitely homosexual and the other only THINKS he's homosexual when really he's straight, but because of a number of factors he's afraid of women. Hilarity will ensue.
And that just scratches the surface. We've had chars who thought their dragon was imaginary, HADs that never tell because they think people will think they're crazy, murderous male-phobic misfits, dragon purists who want to eliminate all but the no-longer-quite-extinct Canon colors...the list goes on. With dragon colors soon to reach the triple digits (I believe my last count was 95, with two new sets coming in the next few months bringing it to 114) there's LOTS of room for trial, error, comedy, tragedy, and friendship.

3. Don't be shy about asking questions! Questions are what brought me to Oly and questions are what I ask on a regular basis. With the helpful and playful admin team, along with members who will quite literally bend over backwards to help you when you need it, this site is a wonderful place to roleplay.
For example, even though I hadn't RP'd in the DRoP universe for nearly three years when I joined Oly, the members and admins welcomed me and listened to me, helped me with my ignorance, and listened to my input. Sure, my ideas weren't always the ones we went with, but no idea when submitted courteously was ever rejected immediately. (Unless it violated one of the VERY few plotting rules, which only happened once.)

In short, if you're:

• looking for a great place to roleplay, and have fun while doing it,
  
• wanting to roleplay with fun, easygoing, zany, friendly people,
  
• willing to express your opinions, but also give others a chance to express theirs, while not insisting that your way is best,
  
• and might be interested in stretching the boundaries of the DRoP universe,

then feel free to sign up RIGHT NOW because YOU ARE AN AWESOME PERSON and WE NEED YOU!

So do I. Especially because 95% of my characters have boring histories. I'm not the type who likes to load eighty-five thousand different devastating things into my characters' backstories. I'd rather RP them being traumatized than have it somewhere in their past.

O.o I remember looking at this site when it was on AG2, I think. It was all colorful, and I wanted to join, then AG2 died. Which made me very sad.

I agree with this site's existence.

AG2's been dead, since, what, September? I think it was around then that it went down and just didn't come back up. ;.; Hence all the crazy move attempts.
