Restoration and Light
Was that...Could it really be...Sunlight?
The young canine stared up at the skies, gray-soaked crimson eyes wide as the last of the gray storm-clouds melted away into oblivion. All around him there was action as the residents of the land worked to cleanse it of the darkness that had tried so hard to taint the rolling hills and jagged mountains of the Kingdom. Those same eyes closed as the light hit him, bathing navy fur in the warm rays. It had been so long since he had last felt the sun...
Only yards from the navy-pelted wolf sat another young being, her own eyes drawn away from the skies towards the sight of her companion bathing in the light. A smile tugged at the corners of her muzzle, one ear twitching lightly. She stood, allowing her paws to carry her towards him, her own mismatched eyes closing briefly when the light rays intersected with her own fur. It felt so nice and warm...She tugged lightly on his ear, instigating yet another one of their playful wrestling matches. Neither of them payed attention to the feeling of watchful eyes on them. They were safe now, and home.
The mud had dried marginally, and the crows had all been driven away, though by what, no one was really sure. Perhaps the Gods had seen fit to return to the mortal plane for a short time and scourge the lands. All that remained were the blackened feathers swept into a neat pile, burning; each feather curling in on itself, turning to dust. No one noticed when the flames began to hiss and die. All sets of eyes though, Gods, Messengers, Immortals, Chosen, and all those in between, turned towards the skies as a single, cold burst of wind swept through...
And it began to snow.
